Incoming Mail from two different routes from the United Kingdom to Victoria,
Vancouver Island: 1) 1859 (July 4) prepaid envelope with minor edge flaws rated “1/2½” from Plympton via London, New York, Panama and San Francisco with neat dispatch, transit and clear large San Francisco / Paid AUG 14 1859 datestamp in red; forwarded to Victoria with manuscript docketing “recd 23 Aug / 59” on reverse; and 2) 1863 (March 13) blue envelope in excellent shape sent prepaid, rated “1/2½” from Croydon, via London, New York, then carried overland by rail to San Francisco (the letter was not endorsed per West Indian packet), then forwarded to Victoria, Vancouver Island.
