1853 One penny red brown on blued paper, imperforate, a remarkable mint pair with ample to very large margins and possessing small part original gum, unusually fresh with sharp impression. Mint multiples of this denomination are very rare, Fine to Very Fine and choice; backstamped "W.H.C." (Warren H. Colson) and Gilbert, the latter being the auctioneer and expert who dispersed the famous Ferrary collection in 1921-1925. (Unitrade 1; catalogue value $9,000+)
